Company Background: A rapidly growing Renovations Construction firm The Byng Group http://www.thebynggroup.com with its head office situated in Vaughan, ON. Specializing in interior work, with concentration in multi-residential suite upgrades, common area renovations, commercial tenant build-outs and institutional and retail spaces. Our clients are services by a dynamic team of over 500 uniformed in-house technicians, labourers, project managers, account managers and a warehouse complete with fabrication facilities.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The project manager is responsible for assistance in managing, planning, and coordinating tenant fit outs, commercial and residential renovation projects. The person in this position is responsible for the ongoing inspection process connected with new construction and remodeling of existing facilities. The project manager examines plans and specifications and assists with ensuring compliance of projects to their plans and specifications.

Building and Construction -- Knowledge of materials, pricing, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, commercial properties

Design -- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.



-Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.

-Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.

-Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.

-Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.

-Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

-Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.

-Direct and supervise workers.

-Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.

-Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.

-Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.

-Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.

-Develop and implement quality control programs.

-Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.

-Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.

-Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.

-Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.

-Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.

-Direct acquisition of land for construction projects.

· Pre-Inspections and inspections during and after the renovation process.

· Communicate with Client Representatives.

· Ensure all the work is completed as per the company standards.

· Coordinate changes during the course of renovation with Account Managers.

· Manage Sign-Offs.

· Manage the pick up and drop off material to the job site.

· Provide customer service to clients.

· Troubleshoot and repair deficiencies occurred during the renovation process.

· Train and assist Junior Project Managers.

· Estimate labour and material costs for future projects.

· Assist in dispatching trades in the morning with material.

· Meet with clients to discuss quotations and estimates for the work they require.

· Attend meetings with the prospective clients.

· Other duties as and when delegated.

Determine scope of work and collect price from sub contractor and supplier.
Prepare estimates with a time frame.
Closing of a job
Coordinate and give direction to projects with Project Manager and site super.
Schedule item price for the project.
Manage and supervise the job to complete so that it is finished within the contract scope.
Make sure invoicing is completed on time.
Administer back charges and monitor quality of material.
Other duties as and when assigned.
